Las Mañanitas

We found this charming inn in the village Cóbreces, in Cantabria, between Comillas and Santillana del Ma r, perched on the cliffs that plunge over the Cantabrian Sea. Mentioned first Santillana del Mar, whose architecture and streets have earned him several times the qualification of being "the most beautiful city in Spain"; its numerous museums and art exhibitions attest that it is not in vain.

The Cuevas de Altamira and the museum are nearby, and you should not miss the opportunity to learn more about one of the most important examples of cave art of the paleolithic existing in the world.

Comillas is on the other side, and aside from its impressive beaches it is worth noting its cultural legacy in the form of architecture, such as the Palacio de los Sobrellano and Gaudí's Capricho.

The Natural Park of Oyambre is located a few kilometers away, with the beach that bears his name, and the Monte Corona is nearby as well; both offer spectacular landscapes of the coast and its cliffs. The Reserve of the Saja-Nansa, with the basins of the rivers forming beautiful valleys, is not far either.

Further east you will find Santander and the Cabárceno Nature Park, a world reference in terms of man-made landscapes and the maintenance of species in semi-freedom.
