In the beautiful natural environment of the Sierra de Rodes, in the interior near the Costa Brava, a smaller mountain range rises in which the Mediterranean forest and undergrowth reaches heights of up to 600 meters above sea level. In this territory crossed everywhere by paths designed for hiking, we will not only be able to appreciate the wild nature of the area, but also various human remains from different historical periods, the remains to which we refer in this case being their architectural traces..

Thus, in its westernmost part, combining different hiking trails, we will be able to observe all the prehistoric vestiges that are found in this territory, for which we must be organized. Here is an itinerary that will facilitate such a task: going from Mas Margall towards Canyelles we will be able to see, in this order, the dolmens of Puig Margall, Vinyes Mortes, Caigut I, El Garrollar, in the surroundings of which is the sculpture of the same name, La Talaia, to finish seeing the engravings of Planells and Canyelles, the latter already outside the mountains.

If, by contrast, we want to observe one of the best preserved examples of Catalan Romanesque, also surrounded by this beautiful natural setting, near the summit of Sant Salvador de Verdera is the monumental complex of the Monastery of San Pere de Rodes.
