Emerging among the trees on the promontory that rises in the middle of the historic quarter, the Castillo de Castelldefels still stands out, a fortress that officially dates from the 15th century, although already in the 10th century there was the Church of Santa María, who is the heart of this building and which she shelters as the last bastion of Christianity in these lands of Christian-Muslim struggle.

And there was a time when Castelldefels was the border of the Caliphate of Córdoba with the Kingdom of Aragón. Later the fortification would be reformed to make it more effective against the attacks of the Barbary pirates who frequently harassed the entire Catalan coast.

In the part of the interior that surrounds the town is the Garraf Natural Park, a magnificent extension of Mediterranean forest of about 13 thousand hectares, which are crossed by numerous hiking trails, some coastal and others more inland. Going through some of the latter we can find the first Buddhist temple in Catalonia, constituted as such in 1996, but which in reality does not have the typical oriental format, but rather the Palau de Novella, which was a modernist palace late nineteenth century adopted the functions of sanctuary.
