10.5 Km from Montferrer, in the direction of Sant Joan de l’Erm, there is Castellbó. From there, starting at elevation 800, there is a track of about 5.5 kilometers that goes up the valley to Solanell. It is a village practically in ruins located between 1200 and 1300 meters of altitude. Its terrain is steep and full of steep slopes, which allows most of the houses to enjoy the sun and views to the south.

Sourroundings of El Cabirol
Solanell is not a passing town, since whoever goes up with a vehicle will not be able to go further. Being the end of the line makes it a special place. From it are born different routes to go on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. One of the most recommended is to go down to the river, cross the small wooden bridge and wind towards Sendes, another abandoned town.
Indispensable to visit the town and its church where Romanesque paintings have recently been found. Although most of the houses are in ruins, it is perfectly clear what the town was like a hundred years ago. It is like a return to the past.
You will have the chance to disconnect in a quiet environment full of nature and with an important heritage of traditional architecture.
While we go down to the river to take a bath, we can see the terraces made with stone walls where there were the old orchards. Beside the river there are flat shaded spaces ideal for a day of picnic, reading or meditation.
Among the green areas, we encourage you to do some of the best hiking and mountain routes with which you will be able to enter a charming terrain.
