Antiga Escola de Palau

Our rural house is in the old village of Palau, in the term of La Baronia de Rialb, Lleida.

It is the old village school, which has been rehabilitated and renovated to turn it into rural accommodation. In 1963 the school disappeared because there were not enough students, but, in 2000, the City Council encouraged these buildings to be transformed into rural accommodation.

Our house has a capacity for 4 people, distributed in 2 rooms:

• A bedroom X
• One bedroom double, with 2 single beds, cobblestone walls and ceiling with wooden beams.

In addition, it has a XX large living room. There is a beautiful built-in fireplace on the brick wall seen. We put at your disposal firewood, so you do not miss anything. There are 2 large armchairs and a nice carpet in the middle, adding warmth to the room. There is also a part with a table and chairs, a dining area next to the window.

The living room has a sofa-bed, in such a way that the capacity could be increased up to 6 people.

In the same room, but in another room and separated by a partition, is the American kitchen. It has a fridge and fires and, in addition, a breakfast bar, very practical. From here goes out to the patio.

There are 2 bathrooms, in one of them there is WC and washbasin, and another with shower and washbasin. In this way, the use of the bathrooms by all the guests becomes more functional, since they can be used at the same time and save time.

Outside, there is a garden. It has been tried to maintain the typical vegetation and to intervene as little as possible in the environment. For this reason, the plants and trees of the area have been used, taking advantage of their shade. There have been placed several furniture: a round table with wooden chairs, under a umbrella ; sun loungers for sunbathing; and a Hammock hung from tree to tree.

Our house is in an old village, Palau, totally depopulated. In addition to the rural housing, and only retains the Romanesque church of Santa Maria de Palau. It belongs to the municipality of Baronía de Rialb. It is in the regions of La Noguera and Segre Mitjà, in the valley of the Rialb River.

Near our house is the swamp Rialb, where many water sports are practiced. In addition, the area is ideal for walking and touring various routes and trails, surrounded by nature.

In the surrounding territory there are up to 24 Romanesque churches and hermitages, a perfect activity to know the area and see its most typical monuments.

In addition, you can visit the Sols Dolls of Riu, dating back approximately 4,000 years ago.

It is very famous Forat del Buli, a kind of cavern where the river passes, some narrow and steep cliffs, with caves and waterfalls. It forms a beautiful landscape, ideal to visit or to do sport.
