Cabra is a municipality located in the province of Córdoba where you’ll be able to enjoy a wide range of patrimony and spectacular natural spaces as it’s also known as an entranceway to the Natural Park of the Subbética Mountain Range.
It is without a doubt one of the best destinations to spend a few days in as it counts on a wide tourist offer and places that make it one of the prettiest towns in the province, counting on gastronomy, culture and a rich patrimony.

In terms of the civil architecture, the most important monument for tourism has to be the Castle of Cabra which lies on the tallest part of the city and is protected by an impressive defence fortress.
The cultural house and the Teatro El Jardinito are two very significant places, as well as the two museums: The Municipal Archaeology Museum and the Museum Águola y Eslava.
Within its framework there are also some ancient remains where its most significant archeologic settlements include: the Necrópolis de la Beleña, one of the oldest in the peninsula and the Villa de Mitra, which is from the Roman Ages.
This city was home to some famous people like Juan Valera, one of the best-known habitants born in Cabra on a social and cultural level. He was a Spanish writer and politician with works as well-known as Pepita Jiménez amongst many more.
Living in Cabra is being able to enjoy tradition and there’s no better way to do so than taking part in the festivities where we must highlight Semana Santa which is one of the most important ones for the city. For the Cerro neighbourhood the Cruz de Mayo is also very popular.
The patron saint festivals are celebrated in September in honour of Virgen de la Sierra and where large events are organised for the habitants as well as visitors to enjoy some deeply rooted tradition.
If you would like to know how to get here, the best way to do it is to come by car, that way you can also visit some nearby towns like Lucena or Carcabuey, and if you’d rather stay a few days, you could even reserve a holiday cottage in Cabra.
