What to see
As we have already mentioned, Corsica has a wide range of activities that will allow you to get to know the island in depth. If you are an intrepid adventurer in search of thrills, we suggest climbing to over 2,000 metres on Mount Cinto, or following the Col de San-Bastiano nature trail.
The Calanques de Piana, which are spectacular rock formations with a very unique appearance, and which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a must on your holiday.
Ajaccio, Filitosa with its megaliths and Calvi are urban spaces that you cannot miss and that will undoubtedly surprise you as much as the Agriates desert. A desert on an island? Indeed, Corsica is a whole world.
Finally, if you are travelling with children, A Cupulatta is an ideal plan for them. They will love this turtle park in the capital.
What to eat
Corsican gastronomy has a strong Mediterranean influence. Sea and mountains are what you will find in its landscapes but also what you will find in its traditional cuisine.
If we talk about products that have become emblematic of this island, we would highlight Corsican wine, which even has a Designation of Origin, as well as Corsican honey and olive oil, which are the basis of many of its recipes.
Your Corsican menu can't miss the typical liver sausage figatellu, or wild boar civet. You should also try the cheeses and the chestnut beer that are produced here.
To put an end to this delicious the meal, you can't miss the desserts made from chestnut flour, such as pulenda and niccia.
Nature
Lying on paradisiacal beaches such as Porto-Vecchio, which is one of the island's oases, climbing the impressive cliffs of Bonifacio, discovering the famous Calanques de Piana, or travelling back in time at the Filitosa archaeological sites are just some of the things you can do on the island.
It is a star destination for millions of tourists who, especially in the summer season, are looking for that characteristic mild and warm climate which, together with the beauty of its coastline, with its markedly Mediterranean character, make for a holiday destination that you will truly remember.
Its capital is Ajaccio, and within its extension you will find incredible beaches that look like something out of a postcard and nature everywhere, such as that which you will discover in the Regional Natural Park of Corsica, where you can go hiking.
Our festivities
In honour of one of the main characters of Corsica and in its capital, we recommend you take part in the Napoleonic Days in June, where all the activities are related to his world-famous conqueror.
In February and March, the Italian and Spanish Film Festivals take place in Bastia. In March or April, depending on the year, you can enjoy one of the most colourful events on the island: the Corsican Carnival.
These are just some of the celebrations marked on Corsica's calendars, but you will also find here many traditional festivities to enjoy and celebrate its culture in any of its villages whenever you travel.
