El Zarzo

In the quiet town of Fuenteheridos, in the province of Huelva is our holiday accommodation. A traditional house surrounded by chestnut and oak forests, which preserves the rustic character of the country homes of the Sierra de Aracena.

The house was built in the 18th century and within its walls was the town's old chestnut drying room. What was initially the workplace of the inhabitants, hundreds of years later has been transformed into a wonderful vacation spot.

In the process of rehabilitation, it was decided to preserve some of the corners, although the distribution and use of the interior rooms is no longer the same. This is the case of the patio, a large outdoor area, with stone floors and an endless number of tools and pots that embellish the white walls that surround it. There is a covered area with enough space to park the vehicle.

Our house can accommodate a maximum of 4 people and has a room with 2 beds.

The wooden gate at the entrance takes us to a beautiful living room. Perfect for lunch as it has a large capacity table, and also for rest and contemplation on cold days, as visitors will have at their disposal a fireplace and a two-seater sofa bed.

The kitchen is small but very charming and practical as it incorporates the induction system. It communicates with the living room and it is the curtains on its closets and the yellow color of the tile that characterize it.

The bedroom is a spacious, bright and rustic room, which has managed to combine antique elements, such as the wrought iron headboard or the wooden rocking chair with the rest of the quality furniture. We had in mind to offer a home that is accessible to everyone, which is why we designed the bathroom with people with reduced mobility in mind.

Its 700 inhabitants make Fuenteheridos one of the quietest towns in the mountains. It belongs to the Natural Park of Aracena and Picos de Aroche, so it is not unusual to find a multitude of oak and cork oak forests in the surroundings of the municipality.

Characteristics are its stone streets decorated by whitewashed houses that remind us of the aesthetics of mountain buildings.
Water is one of the most important elements of the town, that is why we can find a diversity of fountains, such as the Doce Caños, which has a water spring that in the history of the town has never been seen in drought. Characteristic is the bullring, one of the oldest on the Peninsula, as well as the Botanical Garden, with more than one hundred species of plants brought from different parts of the world that can be visited by tourists.
