It is a very important Iberian settlement. It is located between the rivers Ceal and Guadiana Menor on a circular plateau. For nature lovers, there is nothing like taking one of the hiking trails along the river Turrilla, which provides a very pleasant view of its banks.
But if you had to choose a time of year to get to discover Hinojares, it would surely be during the villages’ local celebrations. The most well-known of them are held in April, those of San Marcos, the patron saint of the municipality, and in August, those of Santo Cristo.
During these dates, a rich and varied gastronomy is on display that you cannot miss, as it is full of tradition and flavours. Among the most famous dishes are torreznos (fried pork rashes) and maimones soup both of which are not to be missed.
To round off your trip to Hinojares, a sweet touch in the form of mantecados and traditionally prepared madeleines will make your mouth water.
