La Casa de Tía Matilde

Granite facade and large wooden windows characterize this traditional country house located in the Salamanca municipality of Pereña de la Ribera. In their interior they will be able to accommodate up to 6 people.

Despite having been rehabilitated, the house retains the traditional character of its structure. Its front façade is dominated by a central balcony with a beautiful lattice whose windows are protected from light by traditional wooden shutters.

Built to 2 heights, is framed perfectly in the architectural aesthetics of the municipality. In addition, the taste for traditional crafts has led us to show different tools of farming in each corner of the house and to organize exhibitions of artisan products of the region.

Thick stone walls turn the house into a warm place in winter and cool in summer. In addition to being equipped with heating there are 2 chimneys repartidas by common areas.

The larger space on the ground floor is occupied by the brick kitchen and the living room, a comfortable space with wicker armchairs placed near the fireplace. What was formerly the winery, today has been rehabilitated as a gallery, from whose glass you can see the stone patio.

The 3 bedrooms and the bathroom are distributed on the upper floor. Ceilings and wooden floors, stone walls and large closets that turn them into cozy spaces.

There are many tourist possibilities offered by the Comarca de las Arribes. Trails to travel by car or on foot, in which to discover landscapes such as the waterfalls of the river Uces on its way through Pereña o the Well of the Cows, that owes its name to an accident suffered years ago in which a cart pulled by cows was shot down the precipice.

The viewpoint of the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Castillo is a balcony with spectacular views of the Arribes del Duero, where with luck you can see eagles flying over the river.
