La Higuerilla

Our rural house is in the town of Barco de Ávila, in the province of Ávila.

It is one of the houses that make up the rural complex that we offer. You can rent a house or another or, if you want, 2. This specific accommodation has a capacity for 10 people, but in the complex in total can be hosted 14. In addition, each house has a own access, so that privacy is guaranteed.

It is a house rustic style, with white and wood and stone. In the main entrance has a beautiful porch, with exposed beam ceiling, where there is placed a long table glass and wrought iron, with several matching chairs.

This building was, at the time, a mill, since it is attached to the river. Later it became a hydroelectric power station, until it was reformed and turned into a rural lodging.

In the interior, our house offers all the necessary stays and services to make your holidays perfect. In fact, we have taken care of every detail, and is adapted for people with reduced mobility.

There is a XX large room, decorated following a rustic and traditional line. The key piece is the beautiful fireplace, around which the sofas and seats are arranged. These are burgundy, which combine and contrast with the yellow of the walls and the dark color of the wood.

In this room there is also a American kitchen, fully equipped, and with a breakfast bar and stools. If you prefer to eat at a table, there is also a dining area.

The house has 5 bedrooms, all doubles. In each of them there are 2 single beds. Also, most importantly, inside each room there is a bathroom. In this way, the house is more functional and its use much more comfortable.

As for the outside, it has no waste. The farm has an extension of 4,000 square meters. In all this space, there are plantations but, more than half, gardens. In addition, due to the old use of the building, everything is bathed with its own channels. There are different pieces of furniture scattered around the plot and also a barbecue. All this with the river as a framework. Of course, the outdoor facilities are shared with the other house.

Barco de Ávila is known because the River Tormes crosses the town. Above, pass a bridge, Romanesque style, which creates a perfect postcard.

The municipality belongs to the district of Alto Tormes, at the head of the river. The center forms a historical set with some monuments that have been declared Cultural Asset:

• The Castle of Valdecorneja: dates from XII century and is characterized by its cylindrical towers of the corners.
• Church of Our Lady of the Assumption: belonging to the Gothic style and XIV century.

We are on the verge of the Sierra de Gredos, so the natural heritage is also one of our strengths. For example, you can go for a swim at Pozo de las Paredes (25 kilometers), a natural pool, or visit the Cascada del Diablo, 26 kilometers away, an impressive waterfall.
