La Solana de Frías

The rural house Solana de Frías is a accommodation with terrace in the Spanish village of Frías, between Burgos and Vitoria next to Park Natural of Valderejo.

The house, full rent, has 4 double rooms distributed in different floors. One of the bedrooms is adapted for people with reduced mobility.

The house is built on an old barn, attached to the old Castillo de Frías. The house shares one of the walls with the castle, by which one of the central walls is stone. In addition, this union with the rock makes that inside the house there are different natural caves.

The double rooms are distributed in different heights. With double beds and classic decor, all bedrooms have heating. There is also the possibility of putting a baby cot in any of the rooms. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, and is distributed without architectural barriers.

The kitchen, fully equipped with all types of appliances, connects with the dining room through an open and bright space.

La living room is comfortably furnished, allowing rest for all tenants. A huge sofa occupies one of the walls of the room; just in front of the television. In the living room, the address of the house makes available to users a DVD with a variety of movies and various board games.

For the little ones, in addition to the possibility of playing on the terrace of the house itself, there is a playground of swings next to the house.

The house is built on one of the main streets of the town, along with all kinds of services.

Frías is a Castilian town of medieval origin, which is within the Comarca de las Merindades. Therefore, the municipality itself is of great tourist interest, as it maintains the medieval old town. The streets of this are still stone, and the most striking of the town: its hanging houses and its Roman bridge.

The natural environment that surrounds the rural house offers different tourist possibilities. The Purge of Purón, next to the Natural Park of Valderejo is an ideal place for hiking. There are plenty of routes along this beautiful landscape that allow the observation of different plant and animal species.

For mountaineering, the Pico Humión, within the Natural Space of Montes Obarenes is a good option. With 1420 meters of height, it constitutes a fantastic excursion. Also as a natural element you can visit the caves of Ojoguareña ; more than 100 km of caves with a hermitage built in its interior.

In the vicinity of the town of Frías, there are also different buildings worth visiting, such as the ethnographic museums, the hermitage of Tobera or the necropolis of San Clemente.

Another of the most curious places to visit, very close to Frías, is a castle made of boulders, which is located in the neighboring town of Cebolleros.
