Welcome to Limousin
Do you have plans to travel to France and enjoy landscapes full of charm? Then we suggest you travel to the Limousin region, a place where you can enjoy the best holidays surrounded by charming green landscapes.
This is one of the old French regions which, since 2016, has been part of the New Aquitaine area. Its capital was Limoges, its most touristic city where there are numerous activities that will allow you to get to know the history and culture in depth.
It is located in the Massif Central area, and due to the low number of tourists, it is one of the best places to relax and enjoy rural tourism in its different accommodations, from where you will have some spectacular views.
Despite being one of the least known parts of France to tourists, this region is home to many places of great interest with special attention to the natural spaces.

What to see
To get to know the urban centres, we recommend that, in addition to the capital, Limoges, you visit towns such as Brive-la-Gaillarde. You will find abbeys and castles and museums such as the Jacques Chirac Museum. We also suggest that you follow the Limousin Châteaux Route.
The villages of Collonges-la-Rouge, Turenne or Mortemart, which are structured in a perfect bucolic setting of picturesque and traditional villages, are ideal for take a break from everything in the middle of nature.
The ancient region of Limousin is one of the most charming green areas you can find in France. It's not one of the top tourist destinations but once you start touring it, you'll want to stay.
What to eat
The diversity of flavours that you will find in Limousin will make your trip a complete experience that will give you a tour of the flavours and smells of fruit and meat products from this region.
Its local recipes are, like the region itself, relatively unknown in France, but their unique flavours will make you want to come back. Chestnuts are very typical product in this area and are used to make many of the sauces that accompany all kinds of dishes, including lamb, one of the most typical meats here.
Among the sweets, we would highlight the cherry flavour in desserts such as clafoutis and flognarde, as well as apples or the delicious Creuse cake, where you will identify the hazelnut flavour.
Nature
As we said, we encourage you to enjoy hiking, taking advantage of the routes that are spread out in the Perigord-Limousin Park, which also includes part of the Dordogne. Here you will also be able to contemplate the landscape of the Vienne Valley.
There is also the Millevaches Park which includes the Gioux Nature Reserve. A very pleasant route to enjoy, and without great difficulty so that you can enjoy it even if you are travelling with children.
It is one of the places along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and the touristic activities here are especially devoted on green tourism and active tourism, with activities like hiking and mountaineering, with its highest points reaching an altitude of 1,000 metres.
Our festivities
A traditional place par excellence and linked to the primary sector, this destination has a number of festivals that are a reflection of its folklore and tradition.
Among the memorable events to any local of Limousin are the Mushrooms and Nature Conferences, or the Night of the Owl, which also adds nature to the celebration as they are held in the Perigord-Lemosin Natural Park.
Another traditional festival not to be missed is the Coquelicontes Festival, where music and gastronomy are also very much present.
