Peña Gorda

Our rural house is located at Sierra de Gredos, in the village of Barco de Ávila.

We have a rural complex, formed by this house and another. This home has a capacity for 4 people, while in the other building can accommodate 10 guests. There is the option of renting a house or 2, so that the total capacity would reach 14 people. In addition, each home has a individual access, so the residents of each accommodation enter through separate sites, as they are different constructions.

This is what was the house of the guard, when the farm was a mill. Later, both buildings were renovated, giving rise to the rural houses that exist today. It wanted to safeguard the country atmosphere so characteristic of the old use of the house, that's why the façade still shows the stone and wood of yesteryear.

However, we have not wanted to give up comforts either. For example, we have a American kitchen with all the necessary appliances.

The living room is a very pleasant space, largely fostered by the fireplace . Provides that homely and warm taste, which makes our accommodation an ideal place to enjoy, both inside and outside the house. In addition, the living room has television, to entertain sitting on the sofas.

We have 2 bedrooms, both with 2 single beds. According to the needs of our guests, these beds can be left together or separated. Annex to the rooms, there is a bathroom. Each bedroom has one, its own and with private access from the room.

The decoration is very characteristic: the big wooden beams that characterize the rooms, especially in the living room. The white combines very well with them and gives much luminosity a the house.

The house has a corridor with terrace, with tables and chairs to enjoy the fabulous surroundings.

The exterior are very extensive, since the farm where our houses are located has 4000 square meters. The gardens can be enjoyed by the guests of both houses, because are common. There are a lot of canals, which come from when the plot was a mill, drawing a beautiful landscape along the garden. In addition, we are bordering the River Tormes, so the views are even better. We also have a barbecue, to spend time outdoors.

Barco de Ávila is a town bathed by the River Tormes. One of the most characteristic pieces of the town is In addition, we have a lot of architecture very well preserved. In fact, some of the buildings have been declared Cultural Interest, exactly the Valdecorneja Castle, erected in the XII century, and the church of Our Lady of the Assumption.

The situation could not be better: our house offers beautiful landscapes, not only for the river, but also for the environment. We are in the Sierra de Gredos, a natural paradise, with steep and very green. In addition, our accommodation is very close to the ski slopes of La Covatilla.
