Castilblanco de los Arroyos is a municipality that is in the province of Seville and that stands out for, as its name suggests, its fountains, rock formations and the presence of water, that accompanies its white houses beside the Morena mountain range, in the Northern Mountain range of Seville.
In terms of its structure and population, it is more than 323 kilometres squared, filled with pure magic with more than 5,000 habitants. Furthermore, there are only about 35 kilometres between Castilblanco de los Arroyos and Seville, so it’s the ideal destination to take a visit to.
The first evidence we have of this town is from the 14th century, when Alfonso 11th declared it as Castriel Blanco. The name later evolved to Castil Blanco in the year 1578, before becoming Castel Blanco to what we know it as today.
What is there to see? It is filled with many different points of interest that you must see and get to know.
Something that was of great importance but that now doesn’t exist is the castle, or the scarce ruins that remain of it that was located on an elevated part of land. The most modern walls were raised on top of even older ones of Roman origin.
Another thing that has also no longer stands that was next to the castle is the hermitage of Santa María Magdalena, as well as the hermitage of San Sebastián and the Hospital of Santa Lucía which were greatly enjoyed by its habitants.
Nowadays there are some places still standing that you don’t want to miss out on like the religious buildings, such as the church of Divino Salvador or the chapels of San Benito and Escardiel.
The main theatre of Miguel Fisac is one of most lively parts in the locality with there also being a library inside. You also cannot miss the town council building in the centre.
When are the festivities? There are quite a few important dates that mark the festivities where the one that stands out most is the fair in honour of Virgen de Gracia, that is celebrated in the month of July and has something all ages can enjoy such as concerts and events to ensure you have the best time.
However, if there’s one you don’t want to miss out in the Month of July it’s the Water Festival, all the visitors and neighbours gather together in the Plaza Amarilla to have a drink and fight off the high temperatures.
If you want to escape the heat, you can rent a house with a pool. Or if you’d rather travel out of peak season, you’ll be sure to find some holiday cottages to rent in Castilblanco de los Arroyos that are reasonably priced. And if you like it enough to stay, there are options if you would like to stay long term. Any home you rent will allow you to get the most out of your holiday.
Now you’ve got the plan done and dusted, you just need to figure out how to get here and, without a doubt, the best way would be to come by car, however, the alternative option would be to come by bus.
